ORS
UK
have been at the forefront of recycling office furniture in the Country for the last 5 years. The success of our business has not only been driven by our service, customer care and professionalism but by our continued commitment to the reuse and resale of surplus office furniture.
90% of all furniture that ORS UK acquires through the recycling program ends up being resold directly to local and national businesses through our sales department. The remaining 10% is broken down either for spares or recycling.
In 2004 over 2,000 tonnes of office furniture was removed and distributed by ORS
UK
in accordance with our recycling policy.
It is envisaged that in 2005 this figure will rise by 1,000 tonnes.
ORS
UK
work very closely with local and national based charities; our aim is to provide a service for charities that is unparalleled. ORS UK supply quality pre owned furniture at a fraction of the cost when compared to new, so that their resources can be spent on the frontline and not the back office.
-
Wood: all the wood is stored in an area and then removed by a dedicated wood recycling company who return the matter back to the furniture industry. We are pleased to confirm that no wood is land filled and all wooden components (desk tops and fittings etc) are all recycled in this way.
-
Metal: all metal is treated in the same way, through a local metal merchant Simms who again recycles all the metal we introduce.
-
Plastic: accounts for less than 1% of the waste material and due to the make up of this material we have no other means of disposing this except for treating this as waste. Most of the plastic components are kept for spares so this is kept to a minimum.
-
Cardboard and Packaging: most of the time this is reused and by ORS UK in packing and storing materials in the warehouse or on the vehicles in transport. Any surplus cardboard is stored and again, this is recycled through Wasteline or Wilshees.
ORS
UK
